Newly Merged, UCP of Greater Chicago & Seguin Services Unite Their Boards.
United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago and Seguin Services, which officially merged last month, have now united their boards of directors.

The two nonprofit organizations came together as UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago to better serve their common goal: enriching the lives of people with disabilities. The new UCP Seguin Board of Directors combines the talents and expertise of 30 civic leaders, including Chairman Steven Napolitano, partner, DLA Piper; Vice Chairman Stuart Gaines, director, Satori Pathway; Treasurer Paul Behrman, managing director, JPMorgan Chase; and Secretary Ron Kenny, executive vice president, Huizenga Capital Management, LLC.
UCP Seguin will maintain existing staff and facilities. John Voit, president and CEO of Seguin Services since 1998, will hold the same title with the new organization. Paul Dulle, Ph.D., UCP’s president and CEO for 20 years, will consult with the new organization and head up a new foundation to benefit UCP Seguin programs and enterprises.
“As UCP Seguin, we will be better able to meet the serious funding challenges ahead for organizations like ours,” said Voit. “Budget cutbacks at the state, local and federal level are hurting the most vulnerable among us. Our new organization is well-positioned to provide much-needed programs and services to help people with disabilities in these difficult times.”
“UCP and Seguin have both been financially strong, innovative nonprofits with decades-long histories of accomplishment,” Dulle added. “This merger is a win-win for our agencies, for our supporters and, most importantly, for those we serve.”
Continuing their tradition of fiscal responsibility, the organizations sought to offset the expenses of their merger with private funding and in-kind support. The Chicago Community Trust underwrote some of the merger costs with a major grant of $48,000, while the law firms of Winston & Strawn LLP and DLA Piper LLP have provided pro bono legal services.
